They had lunch together at noon and arranged the recording schedule for “Pat Me Please.” In the afternoon, Su Chang had nothing to do, so around three or four o’clock, she took Yu Zhou home.

Although she hadn’t spent much time at the office, Yu Zhou still found it boring. She thought about telling Su Chang that she would prefer not to accompany her to work in the future, as she found the office environment less comfortable compared to staying at home.

After completing the script for “Pat Me Please,” she had nothing else to do but observe the recording process. Recently, a production company had expressed interest in adapting one of her previous novels into an audio drama, so she would have to sign an authorization contract.

As she walked out of the basement, Yu Zhou pressed the elevator button and spoke to Su Chang, “That’s my first novel. The production company is allowing me to be involved in the casting process this time, so I need to find a good godmother for my eldest daughter.”

“Godmother?” Su Chang found this term quite interesting.

“Yeah, you see, you’ve nursed Shen Bai a lot and now her popularity is very high. She did better than A-Luo from ‘Reading the Remnants’ during the last character voting.” She didn’t like comparing herself to others, but she shared this little bit of vanity with Su Chang.

The word “nurse” was quite subtle. Su Chang lowered her head and glanced at her own figure, raising her eyebrow secretly.

After they entered the building, Su Chang opened the door and Yu Zhou brought in the fresh milk that had been delivered to the door.

“I forgot to get it this morning. In the future, when you pick up deliveries or takeout, if you see it has arrived, just bring it into the fridge. I’m afraid it’ll go bad in the hot weather,” Yu Zhou nagged.

“Alright.”

“When did you order it?” Su Chang asked, as they did not have the habit of ordering fresh milk before.

“Yesterday. I saw it on the food delivery app and ordered it. I thought your health was not so good, so I wanted you to drink a bottle of fresh milk every day to nourish your body,” Yu Zhou said, changing her shoes and placing her bag on the shoe cabinet.

Speaking of which, Yu Zhou sighed, her previous job had taken a lot out of her. Every morning was like going to battle, not to mention having time to drink milk, she didn’t even have the time to bring it in. Sometimes when Su Chang got up early and wanted to make her a boiled egg to eat, Yu Zhou would say no while washing her face, claiming there wasn’t enough time. Su Chang would suggest eating it on the way, but Yu Zhou would grow impatient, saying she couldn’t find time for it.

After saying it several times, her hurried tone would carry frustration with a bit of a sense of complaint like “you don’t understand the anxiety of someone like me who is trapped in this work life.” Then Su Chang would stop talking.

Of course, she couldn’t understand – how many seconds does it take to grab an egg?

But for someone consumed by their job, it’s not a matter of a few seconds. It’s a feeling of having a tight string in your head, making you feel that any little unexpected situation is a kind of harassment. Even if it’s just a small egg.

In the past, they didn’t have mornings. Now they had them – they could share breakfast, kiss in the kitchen, leisurely enjoy fresh milk, and say good morning to the person beside them properly.

Yu Zhou walked in wearing slippers, informing Su Chang that the clothes needed to be washed and dried. She then proceeded to change the sheets, preparing them to be stuffed into the washing machine once it was available.

Lately, they had been changing the sheets… quite frequently.

She finally understood that there was something more than just starting a relationship – it was about reconciling.

Because of the time they had missed, they always felt the need to make up for it. And because they had lost each other once, they needed to constantly use each other’s bodies as a means to confirm that they had truly returned to each other.

I really have the right to possess you now, not just in my dreams.

When Yu Zhou finished changing the sheets and came out, she found Su Chang in the living room who had also hung the clothes. She had rolled up her sleeves and was squatting, looking a bit confused.

“What’s the matter?” Yu Zhou walked over.

Following Su Chang’s gaze, she was stunned as well.

The little cow cat was rubbing against the wooden table leg with its front paw tapped to the ground, raising its butt. Its hind legs bent stiffly backward and the soft tail was stretched straight, standing up like an antenna.

“Milky,” Su Chang called it with a gentle voice.

It let out a “meow,” looking very restless. Its body tensed even more, glancing back at Su Chang with an… unbelievably affectionate look in its eyes.

Su Chang looked up and made eye contact with Yu Zhou.

Ah, this…

“It’s in heat,” Yu Zhou said softly, like how one would describe stewed tofu.

Su Chang raised her eyebrows and her lips slightly parted.

It seemed a bit embarrassing to look at the little cat now.

“Didn’t you get it spayed?” Yu Zhou complained, “How can you not spay a little kitten? It’s bad for their health.”

“I have no experience. I originally wanted to go with you.”

“I’ve heard that I have to act, or it’ll hate me afterward,” Su Chang said quite seriously.

It seemed like she had made some preparation, but not quite right.

Yu Zhou couldn’t help but laugh, “It’s not that serious. Just send it directly to a pet hospital. Female cats are usually given anesthesia, and they don’t even know what happened when they come out. They’re dizzy and probably don’t have time to bear the humiliation.”

She had heard that some cats would hold grudges, but after listening to her friends who also raised cats exchange their experiences, she realized that there was no need to act. So she thought that even if the cat was a bit petty, it probably wouldn’t be too serious.

“So, what do we do now?” Su Chang’s voice was like the wind brushing a willow.

Yu Zhou squatted down and said, “She’s in heat right now, so she shouldn’t be spayed yet. We can take her later. Sigh, the poor kitten will have to suffer this time.”

“However,” she mischievously suggested to Su Chang, “you can pat her.”

“Pat her?” Su Chang was taken aback.

“Mm,” Yu Zhou pointed to the base of the kitten’s tail, “here, lightly pat it. Don’t use too much force and keep a high frequency; she will enjoy it.”

The way she said it… Su Chang looked at her with the corners of her mouth pursed and a semi-smile on her face.

Unable to contain her laughter, Yu Zhou explained, “What? It’s true. I saw it on Bilibili. Before, I used to do this for my sister’s cat, too– really, it helps.”

She spoke while laughing.

With skepticism, Su Chang hesitantly reached out and touched the kitten’s fur at the base of her tail. The kitten let out a cry at once, seemingly experiencing some relief.

Su Chang then gently and quickly patted a few times.

The kitten let out soft grumbles, making noises similar to purring. Her legs kept kicking backward as her tail quivered like a swaying antenna.

It was quite… magical.

Pursing her lips, Su Chang’s face flushed as she continued to pat the kitten.

Yu Zhou watched her from the side. Su Chang’s hands were long, white, and slender, with a plain ring on her middle finger. Her actions provided a soothing touch to the kitten.

Suddenly, Yu Zhou’s heart fluttered.

So she kept silent as her ears grew hot.

The kitten cried out a few times then abruptly left Su Chang’s touch. It lay down, rubbing its head on the ground and rolling back and forth. It let out a tiny purr before standing back up, shaking its fur and walking away.

Seemingly returning to normal, the cat nibbled on cat food and looked much better.

Feeling awkward, Su Chang silently complained about the situation in her heart and glanced at Yu Zhou resentfully. Her eyes demanded they take the kitten to be spayed soon so she would never have to do this again.

Yu Zhou pouted, thinking that Su Chang was quite thin-skinned. She had grown accustomed to petting kitten Wanwan like this before bedtime. As it was her elder sister’s cat, she couldn’t just take it to be spayed yet, so she had done this for it for the past few months.

What could a little kitten possibly understand?

Mm… but she felt that, it seemed, perhaps, indeed, Su Chang’s touch was different, especially her slightly reddened eyes. It was very different.

Different enough that Yu Zhou didn’t want Su Chang to stand up.

And so, she fluttered her eyelashes and slowly looked at Su Chang twice. Then, she stepped forward, exerting herself slightly as she gently pushed the crouching Su Chang down, kissing her while tenderly cushioning the back of her head, making Su Chang lie on the floor.

After that, Yu Zhou suppressed a bit of a feverish tide in her heart before she propped herself up. Her long hair cascading down as she gazed at the panting Su Chang.

“I want to try floor play. You lie down and I’ll go wash my hands and grab finger cots.”

Yu Zhou was blunt, using an informative tone, but there was a softness and slight shyness to her words, different from a formal notice.

Then, she swallowed and softly discussed with the person below her, “Miss Su, during our noon break in the studio, you said ‘I really like it,’ and it sounded delightful to me.”

“If I do a great job later, could you also say ‘I really like it’?”

After some thought, she decided to push her luck a bit more.

“Say… I really like it, Author sama.”
